The Big Buddha is on top of a large hill. We could see it clearly from our Villa in Karon. Entry is free, but donations are accepted. The Buddha is still under construction. Donations are what is paying to build it. The view from around the Buddha is beautiful. Women have to cover their shoulders. […]
The Phuket Botanic Gardens is a hidden treasure. The entry fee is $500 Baht per person. (about $16 US) It was worth every penny. The gardens are set up by category. It was absolutely beautiful. Words don’t do it justice and neither do the pictures. We could have spent half the day looking at all […]
We explored Phang Nga Bay with the Sea Cave Canoe tour. We booked it through our resort. They picked us up in a bus from the resort. Drove us from Karon, Phuket to their pier. It was about an hour drive. The scenery on the way was beautiful. Once we arrived everyone loaded onto the boat. They served us drinks and snacks and we were off. Once we arrived at our destination each set of people were paired with a canoe guide. He paddled us around the whole day. Our guy didn’t speak the best English, but he really didn’t have to say much. The sites we saw said enough. We canoed through 3 different caves. They were not what I was expecting. Once you get through the cave to the interior of the island it is open sky above. Some of the entrances were a tight fit, but we made it. Lunch was served on the boat. It was a variety of foods. Everyone found plenty that they liked to eat. Once we were done with the cave we headed to Lawa Island. We spent about an hour on the island. There were bathrooms and a Tiki Bar that served drinks and snacks for a fee. You really didn’t need anything because there were drinks and snacks on the boat for free. The hubby and I enjoyed Mai Tai’s and relaxed. Next stop was back to the pier then the bus back to the resort. It is an all day excursion. We loved it.
The Centara Villa’s is located outside of Karon on the way to Patong in Phuket Thailand. We arrived about 9a. I was delirious from the 12 hour time difference and more than 24 hours of travel. We were greeted by a cool towel and coconut milk still in the coconut. It was nice and refreshing.
The Villa’s are located on a hill overlooking The Andaman Sea. All of the villa’s face the beautiful blue green water. So you are guaranteed a view. No looking at dumpsters and parking lots here.
We had Villa 217. It had a great view and the room was big and spacious.
Our Villa was on the far west side of the property. There are lots and lots of steps. Breakfast and Dinner are served at the Cliff Restaurant on the top of the hill beside the lobby. It is a hike to get there. We would climb and climb, then rest a few minutes and look at all the beautiful greenery and flowers. Then we would climb some more.
You can call for a tuk tuk to pick you up at your villa and drive you up, but then you would miss all the beautiful plants and flowers that grow all over the property. Lunch is served at the Bayview Restaurant. It is located by the pool. All of the food was amazing, and we tried a little bit of everything. The view from both restaurants are beautiful too.

A lot of the hotels in Phuket are located across the street from the beaches and there are electric lines that get in the way of the view. The Centara Villa’s is one of the few that has an unobstructed view of the sea. We loved Centara Villa’s and could not have made a better choice of hotels.
The Phuket Aquarium is at the south of Phuket Thailand. When we got to the Aquarium, we were having second thoughts about going in. It doesn’t look like much from the outside of the building. Since it was only 100 Baht (about $3 US) and we were already there, we decided to go ahead and go in. The first section wasn’t very promising. It was glass cylinders all through the room with small saltwater coral reef fish. With a lot of the same variety. The next room was more promising. The walls had large tanks set in them with species of fish we had never seen before. There is a tunnel aquarium that you can walk through and the fish are swimming above and around you. My favorite part was the seahorses. Don’t miss the aquarium it’s well worth the time.
