Pleasure Pier in Galveston, Texas had a soft opening Memorial Day weekend 2012. It is built in the same location that the Flagship Hotel stood for as long as may of us can remember. There is a fee to enter the Pier whether you are going to ride the rides or not, unlike the Boardwalk in Kemah, Tx. It’s a great way to spend a few hours with the kids. I don’t know if you could make a full day of it. In addition to the carnival rides there are a few midway games, a candy shop, and a concession stand. You have to keep in mind that it is a pier so there was only so much room to work with. Every square inch has been utilized.
We had lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. I was so excited when we got our meal it looked delicious. Unfortunately it was only ok. I had boiled crab and it was ok. My husband had boiled shrimp. It arrived at the table covered in seasoning and looking yummy. However you couldn’t taste any of the seasoning. Overall I give them an A+ on presentation but the food was bland. I wish I had a better review to give. Unfortunately I felt like we threw $100 away. We love to eat at new places when we travel. Hopefully they were still working out the kinks and others will have a better dining experience.
